About Us:

MetalS2 was developed within the framework of the MetalWeb project, which aims at creating a comprehensive resource for the study of metals in biology.

The project is funded by the Ministero Italiano dell'Universita' e della Ricerca (MIUR) under contract RBFR08WGXT (FIRB "Futuro in Ricerca") and is carried on at CERM, University of Florence.

Claudia Andreini is the coordinator of the project. She received her Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences in 2006, and has expertise in the development of databases and bioinformatics tools to study metals in biological systems.

Gabriele Cavallaro received his Ph.D. in Structural Biology in 2004. He is a chemist who has been working in several areas of computational biology, ranging from molecular dynamics simulations to protein structure calculation to genome analysis.

Yana Valasatava is a Ph.D. student who graduated in the Belarusian State University in 2009. Her research interests focus on the development of web resources and tools to study metalloproteins.

Enrico Morelli is the system administrator of CERM. He has a long-term experience in developing databases and web-based interfaces.
